Bellaghy Ballyscullion 'Mullanakill' Burial Ground

‘Mullán na Cille’ early church site and cillín or burial place for stillborn and unbaptised children.'

On a local height in lowlying ground with excellent views NNE-SE-SSW. The site is described in the OS memoirs as "an ancient enclosure...of oval shape...The existing portion averages 2 & a half ft high...& 10ft in breadth... There is a great portion of it at present occupied by the graves of stillborn & unbaptised children. Many of the graves are modern". There are no visible remains of this site in the field surface. The field is higher & rounder in the centre & stands 1.7m above lower ground at S. The field boundary curves markedly at SE-S. The field has been ploughed many times & is quite featureless. An earlier report states that stones & timber were found while reclaiming the site.
