Kilrea Lislea Burial Hill - Old Burial Ground
On the N end of a N-S ridge with panoramic views all round. This is an amorphous height densely overgrown with briars & trees. It has no defined shape, apart from a 34m length of very slightly curved scarp at NNE-ENE. This scarp is revetted with stones & stands 1.4m high. There are no headstones or grave markers to be seen, though there are some medium-sized stones scattered around. Local tradition states that this was a burial ground attached to an old church which lay to NW (on Sh.27). An informant related that many years ago a man of nearly 100yrs said that his father remembered burials here. Thus the last burial would have been in the region of 200 years ago.
