About
This is a relatively modern burial place and opened in 1902 including the mortuary chapel. The Dublin Road cemetery was opened to replace Old Drumragh Graveyard. There are ten Commonwealth burials from the First World War and ten from the Second World War located here. There is a designated area for Roman Catholic graves and another area for those of other religious denominations; traditionally Protestants were buried to the left and Catholics to the right. One of the founders of the cemetery, Charles Mullin, solicitor and member of the council, was present at the official opening. He commented who would be the first person to be interred in the new burial ground. Remarkably, he died the following day, aged 38, and was buried on 3rd April, 1902. There is a dark coloured obelisk erected in his memory. The cemetery is closed for new burials."
